In the beginning of May – this year 7-9 May – it is time again for the global Jane’s Walks weekend. Jane’s Walks encourage people to share stories about their neighbourhoods, discover unseen aspects of their communities, and use walking as a way to connect with their neighbours. We think this is a beautiful idea that should be cultivated and in fact many have discovered during the challenges of the last year.
Depending on the COVID-19 situation in your city and neighbourhood you can either: Participate in a Jane’s Walk near you; Join (or organize) a virtual Jane’s Walk, or; You can explore your local urban environment by yourself and scheme for a neighbourhood walk to be held as soon as the local COVID 19 situation allows you to organize one.
The COVID 19 pandemic has show us that the walkable qualities of our neighbourhoods and the social cohesion within them are vital for our continued wellbeing!
