City of Cork, Ireland signs The International Charter for Walking

We are happy to announce the City of Cork, Ireland as one of our latest signatories of The International Charter for Walking demonstrating their ambition to building a more walkable city for residents and visitors to enjoy and explore.

In this image you can see Councillor Joe Kavanagh, The Lord Mayor of Cork City Council, who signed the Charter, walking on Daly’s Bridge, known locally as the ‘shakey bridge’. The bridge is one of the key spots in the city where engineers have restored the bridge, improved local walkability and retained ‘the shake’.

Cllr. Kieran McCarthy proposed the motion to sign the Charter as a clear commitment to making Cork a great walkable city. Cllr McCarthy is a strong local advocate for walking and runs historical and heritage walking tours of the city.
