WHO releases new “Guidelines on Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour”

Current global estimates show that one in four adults and about 80% of adolescents do not have enough physical activity. This is why WHO developed the Global action plan on physical activity 2018–2030 (GAPPA), which recognises walking and walkable communities as key components of everyday activity.

Now, at a time when many people are still home bound due to COVID-19, the new WHO Guidelines on Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour, launched on 25 November, emphasize that everyone, of all ages and abilities, can be physically active and so importantly, that every type of movement counts.

We all know walking is the most accessible, everyday activity we can choose –  whether we walk to go somewhere or just to be active. During COVID it has been our only mobility at times.

So, let’s walk and Be Active because Every Move Counts!
